Geneva, home to numerous governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as a prime center for oil and natural resource trading, will host the first annual multi-stakeholder conference on global energy issues. This pioneering conference will gather visionaries and high-level participants from governments, UN bodies, NGOs, industry, academia and civil society.

The Energy Pact Conference will address current and foreseeable energy needs and supplies, related environment and development issues, and new business models. Its goal is to help optimize the energy mix from a range of existing sources.

For the first time, a conference will bring together all stakeholders in the global energy market to define a realistic path for the future, taking into account the economic and the environment dimensions as well as the development needs of many nations.

There is a collective duty to ensure an uninterrupted availability of energy and to take into account existing constraints: dwindling fossil energy resources, global warming and widespread development needs of the majority of the world’s population. Increasing our knowledge of the interactions between energy production and consumption, the environment and economic development and builds a platform for scientific and technological innovation, provides an inspiring basis to address a critical issue for our planet.

The conference is organized by the Energy Pact Foundation, a Swiss non-profit and non-political organization under the supervision of the Swiss Federal Authorities.

Geneva is a natural choice to host the first Energy Pact Conference. In addition to being center for natural resources trading, the city is above all home to The International Environment House, which brings together a range of United Nations and volunteer organizations working to improve the state of the environment and economic development. Geneva is also home to around 200 international organizations, both governmental and non-governmental. The cross-fertilization of ideas encourages action, open-mindedness and an objective view of the world.

We are convinced that gaining the support and commitment from all major stakeholders will be a crucial driver in helping to shape solutions for a global issue that has gained increased public awareness and bears significant long-term implications.
