Vladimir N. Cvetković

Dean, Faculty of Security Studies, University of Belgrade

“The main goal of each country’s energy policy, whether if it exports or imports energy, is to ensure energy security. Lack of political awareness of the significance of this problem or the absolutization of specific national interests can easily lead to open conflicts within international arena. In this sense, the region of Eurasia stands out as an extremely complex and demanding as it is ares with extremely rich resources of all kinds, but they are unevenly distributed in a complex geopolitical situation. Control and distribution of energy resources is a permanent source of uncertainty in achieving a stable supply of energy, and thus the main threat to the enabling national, regional and global security.

In line with the current geopolitical situation in the Eurasian area, it is necessary to emphasize the issue of energy security as the main priority of national and regional policy through the initiation of multilateral councils, forums and pacts – all with the aim of ensuring a stable and undisturbed flow of energy through the existing, as well as future supply chains.”
