Mag. Peter Gridling

Director of Federal Agency For State Protection And Counter Terrorism

“The Austrian Program for Critical Infrastructure Protection (APCIP) was developed by the Federal Chancellery and the Federal Ministry of the Interior and forms the framework for all preventive and protective activities in this regard. Operational aspects of critical infrastructure protection constitute a law enforcement task which is regulated in the Austrian Security Police Act (SPG). The Federal Agency for State Protection and Counter Terrorism (BVT) together with its provincial offices (LVT) are entrusted with prevention work, advice for providers, protection against and investigation of threats and crimes against critical infrastructures. The activities mentioned include cyber threats. Guarding activities are primarily the responsibility of the provider but can also be assisted by the police. In a state of crisis also the military can assist and perform protection activities.”
