“The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is grateful to the Government of the Republic of Austria and the Energypact Foundation for the opportunity to address this important conference and this critical topic.
The synergies between UNODC’s mandate to counter transnational organized crime and terror, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the need to protect critical infrastructure from cyberattacks are clear.
On September 25th 2015, countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years. For the goals to be reached, everyone needs to do their part: governments, the private sector, civil society and the public.
UNODC applauds the Government of Austria and the Energypact Foundation for the role they are playing in enabling this vital conversation.“
