“Both Cyber Security and the protection of Critical Infrastructure are of great importance to Austria and its Federal Government. Starting with the release of the Austrian Cyber Security Strategy in 2013, a number of measures was implemented to increase Austria’s capabilities in protecting not only its citizens against threats coming from cyber space, but also its Critical Infrastructure. Thanks to active co-operation with the private sector through the Austrian Cyber Security Platform, the Federal Chancellery, together with other public agencies, was able to engage in a fruitful public-private-partnership, involving the main Cyber Security stakeholders in Austria. Synergies stemming from this partnership not only managed to increase the level of resilience of Austria’s Critical Infrastructure against threats coming from cyber space, they also provided a platform to ensure compliance with the NIS directive of the European Union through the establishment of Critical Infrastructure Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs).”
